A Positive Start for Sika UK

IVO NewHello, I am Ivo Schaedler and I’m responsible for the Sika Business in the UK and Ireland as General Manager. I worked for Sika for 15 years in Switzerland before I relocated two years ago to the UK together with my family. We all like living here very much and we keep on discovering the beautiful places across the country from Scotland to Cornwall.

In our fast moving and highly dynamic business no day is like the other and I can most definitely say I am never bored at all. One of my major challenges is to fulfil the variety of tasks within a short period of time. Travelling is a constant part of my agenda as I am constantly visiting our four sites in Welwyn Garden City, Preston, Leeds and Ireland. With more than 700 employees our company has grown to a remarkable size and plays an important role in the worldwide Sika Group.

I am delighted to see that all the efforts pay off as we see now a very positive effect from the market recovery. The first few weeks of the year have been extremely busy for us across all our departments and our teams make huge and constant efforts to fulfil our customers’ demands.

A major milestone for our company will be the move of our UK Merchant Business to Leeds on the 1st April 2014. You will be aware that Sika Limited acquired Everbuild Building Products Ltd last year. Following a period of review and recognising the strengths of the Everbuild manufacturing and distribution operation, we have taken the decision to re-locate our merchant business to the site in Leeds and merge the Sika and Everbuild operations and sales force.

I am looking forward to the further growth of our business and continuing to support our customers from across the UK.
